A classic cocktail, bright and refreshing. The one drink that converts all whiskey haters into pure whiskey lovers.


  • 1 egg white
  • 3/4oz lemon juice
  • 3/4oz simple syrup
  • 2oz bourbon
  • dash angostura bitters


Grab your shaker set and get ready to shake for your life….

Set up your serve glass by icing it right down, and setting it to one side.

First we start with the egg white. Separate the yolk by straining through a small sieve, or by passing the yolk between two half shells and letting the white fall through the gap.

Fun fact: The idea of raw egg in your drink might not be a fun one – that is, until you’ve had it in a sour. It creates a creamy froth and binds all the flavours in the cocktail beautifully. A sour without egg white, is a cake without icing! Although, if you really can’t face it, try chickpea juice instead!

Add your lemon juice, simple syrup, and bourbon. Add ice to your shaker and shake hard. Strain into another shaker, and shake again. Yes you heard right. This time, shake with no ice to produce more foam for your cocktail.

Now, ditch the ice from your glass, and double strain for a silky smooth texture. Let your sour settle for a moment. Express an orange zest over the top or use a wipe of bitters – but don’t garnish.

Serve up and feel smug for creating one of the best loved cocktails known to humankind.
